                                 Gray's School of Art

Gray’s School of Art is an existing modernist style building in Scotland, it was designed by architect Michael Shawna in 1967, the style is strongly influenced by Mies van der Rohn.

The school has its own cultural significance, therefore, I want to reduce the disruption of the original landscape. Furthermore, I view the courtyard and surrounding landscape as the soul of Grays. My proposal is to increase the volume in the hall which is located in main block, it can allow people wishing to enjoy and relax in a nature-filled courtyard.

The juxtaposition of the artificial structure and landscape is my experiment to create contrast as well as harmony.
